The National Engineering Research Center for Tissue Restoration & Reconstruction (NERC-TRE) is a national interdisciplinary laboratory approvedby Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China in 2009. The center is supportedby various leading science and engineering disciplines from 麻豆传媒 China University of Technology (SCUT). The center has 62research faculty staff (1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering,38 professors), 168 other researchers (including postdoc researchers and PhD students). Center’s total lab area is 10,000 m2 and is equipped with 460 pieces of research instruments with value of 97 millions RMB.

NERC-TRE’s mission is to deliver scientific discoveries and technical breakthroughs that will accelerate the development and deployment of solutions in development of biomaterials and key technologies for reconstruction and restoration of human diseased tissues, and in doing so create economic opportunity for the nation. The center aims at providing the advanced digitalized and personalized medical technology and the tissue restorative materials, such as skeleton, teeth, skin and cornea. NERC-TRE also performs other works including testing, consultation services, commercialization and provides research and technical assistance to other organizations.
