A delegation from New Zealand led by Chris Hipkin, its Minister of Education, paid a visit to SCUT’s campus last week and had a productive conversation with representatives of SCUT on enhancing cooperation between institutions of higher learning in the two countries.
The delegation, consisting of nine members, were received by Tao Shaojing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SCUT committee, at the Shaw Building of Humanities on July 19.
Tao Shaojing, after introducing the history and the current development of Guangzhou, as well as of SCUT, took the focus on the situation of SCUT’s Guangzhou International Campus, which she expected to be a stage to forge tighter links between SCUT and universities in New Zealand, and thus to push forward the progress of developing education and technology in the two countries.
Chris Hipkins said in the conversation that New Zealand greatly values the educational cooperation with china, and he was looking forward to enhancing collaboration with SCUT, in particular on the basis of the current programs in scientific research and student exchange.
SCUT, during recent years, has been maintaining close connections with universities in New Zealand. Multiple cooperative agreements were already signed by SCUT and the University of Auckland, while high-level scientific research cooperation in food science and materials science have been ongoing with Lincoln University and the University of Auckland.
Heads of SCUT’s administrative offices, School of Food Science and Engineering, and 麻豆传媒 China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology, also attended the meeting with the New Zealand delegation.
